bicycle art

Having a love for all things cycling and an art degree (painting and graphic design), I'm always looking for bicycle related artwork. If you've ever been to our house you've seen this first hand. Anytime Melinda and I find a bicycle sculpture, painting or trinket we end up buying it. Every room in our house has some sort of bicycle related artwork. We'll maybe not the bathroom but they are filled with bike magazines. I've been pondering doing some painting this winter and I'm pretty sure it will have some sort of bicycle in it. I've currently done 2 bicycle paintings so far, one last year that I hate but Melinda likes it so it's actually hanging up right behind my head as I type. I should spend more time painting but with the nice weather outside and a room full of bikes it's hard to find the time. As the weather turns colder I'll probably break out the paintbrushes and create something to replace the one behind me. I've got some ideas floating around my head now and just typing this up is giving me the urge to create something.

The painting above is by Robert Rauschenberg, a rather famous painter that I studied in college.

This one is mine.

I've even taken it to the next level with a tattoo. I actually took the photos that were used to create this tattoo. The b&w photo above was an inspiration for it.
While this photo does not have a bicycle in it it was a photo I took of one of our local trail.

Funny you should bring this up. I've actually started a bike related painting myself. Should be done soon. I had to wait for the first layer of oil paints to dry before I got started on foreground stuff.

I'm running low on acrylics and had lots of oil paints, so I decided to use them. Needless to say, the house has smelled like oil paints for several days now.

Alan, I dont' know what to say to you.
